Hydrophilic HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, minimally CYP-metabolized and featured prominently in longevity and cardiovascular literature. Less lipophilic than atorvastatin/simvastatin, reducing CNS and muscle penetration and potentially myopathy risk. Typical 10-80 mg once daily at bedtime. WOSCOPS and LIPID established primary and secondary prevention benefits.
