2,4-Dinitrophenol (DNP)
EXTREME DANGER — MULTIPLE DEATHS REPORTED. Industrial chemical that uncouples oxidative phosphorylation, dissipating the mitochondrial proton gradient as heat. Elimination half-life ~10-18 hours causes dangerous accumulation with repeated dosing. Produces uncontrollable hyperthermia up to 44C (111F). Lowest published fatal dose: 4.3 mg/kg. 11.9% fatality rate in poison control cases (2010-2020). NO ANTIDOTE EXISTS. DNP has an extremely narrow margin between effective and lethal doses. Average time from overdose to death is 14 hours. Not approved for human use by any regulatory agency worldwide. Formerly used as a diet pill in the 1930s before being banned due to deaths and cataracts.
Projected serum levels — 200 mg, once daily
Maintenance schedule: 200 mg once daily (oral).
Modeled steady state after ~1 days: peak ≈ 50.0 mg, trough ≈ 0.000 mg body load. Population-based estimate over 15 days for a 200 mg dose at a 70 kg reference body mass — the interactive app scales curves to your doses, timing, and body mass.
