Ghrelin

Peptide Hormone

Endogenous 28-amino-acid peptide hormone; the octanoylated form activates the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor. It is distinct from des-acyl ghrelin and from synthetic receptor agonists such as GHRP-6 or ibutamoren.

Pharmacokinetic model

A route-level PK model for ghrelin is being prepared from published data. Dosing references, studies, and documented interactions are below; the app catalog is updated as models are validated.

  1. Molecular Mechanisms and Health Benefits of Ghrelin: A Narrative Review Jiao ZT, Luo Q · Nutrients, 2022 DOI

Narrative review describes ghrelin biology across appetite, neuroendocrine, cardiovascular, and metabolic systems. It is a mechanism overview, not evidence that exogenous ghrelin is a generally useful or safe consumer…

  2. The pharmacokinetics of acyl, des-acyl, and total ghrelin in healthy human subjects Tong J, Dave N, Mugundu GM, Davis HW, Gaylinn BD, Thorner MO, Tschop MH, D'Alessio D, Desai PB · European Journal of Endocrinology, 2013 DOI

Controlled infusions in healthy adults showed dose-proportional acyl and total ghrelin exposure, lower clearance for des-acyl ghrelin, and conversion from acyl to des-acyl ghrelin. Those distinct analytes cannot be…

  3. Ghrelin decreases sensitivity to negative feedback and increases prediction-error related caudate activity in humans, a randomized controlled trial. This citation reports a human clinical study involving Ghrelin. It does not by itself establish a qualified dose, safety profile, efficacy claim, or pharmacokinetic route for this record.
