DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide)
Nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) originally isolated from rabbit brain. Promotes delta-wave sleep, modulates cortisol/ACTH, and has analgesic properties. Very short in vitro half-life (~15 min) due to aminopeptidase degradation, but may complex with carrier proteins in vivo. Limited and inconsistent clinical evidence for sleep-promoting effects.
